The original art was inspired by the salt marshes, ocean rips, and sloped beaches of Nantucket Island and hand drawn in Pocomo Meadow. We created the first shirts on a borrowed sewing machine and rocked them in the summer of 2020. Ease, comfort, quality, and cheer are hallmarks of a Curlew shirt. We hope it’s the one shirt you pack and a continuous reminder of the coasts we love and seek to protect. No shoes necessary.

My love affair with Nantucket runs many summers deep.

My grandparents built their home in the '70s, next to a tidal creek and saltwater marsh on the north end of the island. From their house they watched soaring harriers, collected beach plums, and made frequent fishing trips to Great Point. I have all kinds of great childhood memories of that house, too: Marveling at nesting osprey from the porch, digging for cherry stones in the harbor, searching for horseshoe crabs at low tide. They’re some of my favorite memories, and the inspiration behind every Curlew shirt.
